Reviews
Service was very good, our server Katie was cute, friendly and checked on us regularly. The restaurant was pretty loud, mostly from the bar, though there were not many people there ( no soundproofing ) and we always got a cold swell, when somebody opened the front door.
Cocktails were great, loved the hot toddy and the virgin ginger Margerita. Food was a mixed bag. Some dishes were good, like the crispy pork belly with squash, the fries with truffle aioli or the shrimp and grits ( A little bit on the vinegary side, but after you got used to it, delicious ). Others were quite disappointing, especially the French onion Vol au vent ( the puff pastry was barely baked and soggy, the flavors unbalanced ) and the sides for the Filet Mignon. The crispy potatoes were burnt. Pork chop was good, but the sauce unbalanced again, and way to sweet. Plating in general was not a strength of the kitchen, some looked not very appealing.
Loved this place. I gave this place 5 stars on everything because it's true. All 5 of us ordered a different meal and each dish, including 3 appetizers were absolutely fantastic! Coming back for certain.
Wonderful dinner at Castor! We did sharing style and tried several dishes. Good vegetarian options overall, the celery root gnocchi was my highlight. Everything tasted fresh and I love that they source locally. The interior is cute and comfortable, but I was quite cold throughout the dinner and wish inside were warmer.
The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The establishment itself is very cozy and relaxing. The food was very good but a bit unbalanced flavor wise. I myself had a fried chicken sandwich and tasted mostly the specialty mayo and pickled zucchini. Other than that it was wonderful. Definitely worth a stop if you're looking for a spot for lunch.
Really loved this place and the delicious menu. The PBLT was sooo good. Also loved the soup special (melon) and homemade fries. This place will be a favorite when in Corvallis! Very busy little spot which is easy to understand when eating there.
10 Stars!!! The food here is not just good, it’s best of the best!! Some of the best I’ve ever had and I travel the country for a living!! Again proving that the food in Corvallis is some of the best anywhere. I’ve been amazed in my hometown again! Thank you to the staff at Castor, great service, great food, great in every way!!! The shrimp and grits is fabulous, The Filet, unbelievable!!! The pork chop….absolutely amazing!! Castor was recommended to me by a local friend and I can’t say enough good things about it!! The ingredients are top tier, cooked to perfection and will be worth every second of the time it takes to get it to you!!! I just can’t say enough about how amazing this place is!! Must try!!!
Amazing southern American restaurant in Corvallis! Definitely give a credit for southern American restaurants, you can barely find any in Oregon.
I love their food taste and drinks too, I think it’s actually better than most of the 3 $ signs restaurants.
Service are nice but it can be long wait even tho you sit down. I visited here couple time and it average take you 2 hours to finish your meal.
What a delight to eat food from farms we are also shop with. The local fair was both familiar and delicious. It is a bit on the pricey side, and we did feel a smidge of a lack of attentiveness for the up scale feel they are going for. That said, the staff were very friendly and pleasant. We really like the atmosphere. And the location not directly on the busy main street was a real plus. The food is very delicious! The sous vide pork chop was tender and properly seared, but perhaps a little too big leaving a few bites a bit dry. The sauces are all to die for! Can't say enough about the difference that makes! The stake was very good as was the scallop app with another amazing sauce. With a rotating menu based on local fair, this will become a regular routine for us for sure!
